Van Heerden confident as YesPlay Cobras prepare for CSA High Performance clash

October 2026

CAPE TOWN – YesPlay Cobras batter Joshua van Heerden is backing the Boys in Blue to continue their strong start to the YesPlay Pro20 Cup when they host CSA High Performance at YesPlay Newlands on Sunday at 18h00.

The Cobras head into the fixture with confidence after an impressive five-wicket victory over the Flexbrands Knights last weekend, with van Heerden highlighting the team’s growing belief.

“I’m super happy with the win over the Knights last weekend. I think the team’s building confidence at the moment, so to be playing again on Sunday in front of the home fans will be wonderful for us,” said the 28-year-old.

Van Heerden believes YesPlay Cobras’ understanding of their home conditions played an important role in their success against the Knights and will once again be valuable on Sunday.

“I think what worked particularly well for us was just using the conditions to our advantage, knowing the home conditions and making the most of them,” he said.

The YesPlay Cobras have produced competitive performances throughout the competition despite suffering defeat to the Momentum Multiply Titans in their opening fixture.

“I think we’ve played quite well so far in the campaign. I think we were a bit unlucky against the Titans,” he added.

While pleased with the team’s progress, van Heerden knows there are still areas that need improvement as the competition continues.

“Obviously we still have some small areas that we can improve on. I think our T20 sharpness, particularly as a bowling unit, means recognising when batters are trying to take us on. From a batting perspective, it’s about improving consistency of our striking, which I think will get better as we play more.”

With another home fixture on the horizon, van Heerden is expecting an entertaining evening for the supporters.

“I think the fans can expect an exciting game on Sunday and an aggressive style of play, with lots of entertainment from the Boys in Blue.”
